Are you a person who constantly updates your friends or social media about your current goals or future projects?
If so, please put an end to it now!
There is a common belief that saying your goal loud creates a sense of accountability and can increase the chances of success.
If you think so, it’s not.
There is enough science-backed evidence to support my statement.
From the second you say it out, the goal became part of your identity (a sense of pride). You’re already one step closer without any effort. That makes it hard for you to progress.
By doing this, you create a positive feedback on your goal and it completes your brain reward system (an early dopamine spike comparable to one you would experience after achieving your end goal).
When you tell everyone that you will start jogging tomorrow. It’s more likely that you’ll quit jogging in a week or two.
So hereon, you don’t have to update them on your projects. Instead, show them the results. Anyway, the world doesn’t care about you or your goals 🙂.
Until next time,
